1. What type of mood are you generally in on a rainy day?
I don't let the weather affect my mood. I'm happy when it's raining, because that gives an excuse to stay inside with a cup of tea and a book. (And I'm happy when it's warm and sunny, because that gives me an excuse to walk to the park and sit outside with a book!)
2. What are your favorite things to do when the weather is gloomy?
🌦 Watch a movie
🌦 Read a book
🌦 Do a puzzle
🌦 Play a video game
🌦 Play jenga with the person I love most: myself
3. Have you ever been kissed in the rain?
None of your fucking business. 😡
4. After the rain stops, do you continue what you were doing, or do you run outside to do something else?
That's adorable... and unrealistic for life in Vancouver. The rain never stops. It just takes coffee breaks. I don't let it decide what I do or don't do unless we're in a monsoon vortex and the streets are flooding. This happens roughly every six weeks.
5. What is your favorite drink/food to have when it's raining outside?
A grilled cheese sandwich. Maybe I'll make one tonight.
And now, for some talk of North American geopolitics. Again. Sorry!
The final game of the 4 Nations hockey tournament is tonight and I honestly foresee a repeat of the Vancouver 2011 Riots if this doesn't go Canada's way. This game is a very ugly microcosm of the brewing conflict between Canada and the US. I was venting to my grandmother about it the other night; I don't like or understand this 51st state bullshit. I want America and its orange canker sore to leave us the fuck alone. Watching government-funded science be under such aggressive attack is utterly heartbreaking. This is not the world I want, it is not the world I voted for, and I don't want to be brought into it.
(Although I think it's morbidly funny that Trump fails to realise that if Canada was forcibly annexed, Republicans would never hold the White House again. Our version of right-wing is very, very different than the accepted American definition. Unless you're in Alberta. But fuck Alberta.)
It's a shame, because I love hockey. I don't want this ugliness tainting that. But the hostility seriously bled into the ring during the last Canada vs. USA game, leading to considerably more fighting on the ice than usual.
Canadians are angry! It's not a common state of being for us. I'm angry, and I don't enjoy being angry. None of this is fun for me.
I ended up canceling some American-specific services, such as Disney+ and Audible. I'm checking my groceries to see where they come from. I've switched from Starbucks to local cafes. Turns out, A&W is really good! A perfectly acceptable substitution for McDonalds. I have no intention of visiting anywhere in the US for the foreseeable future, not in the least because aviation safety is being quickly dismantled and I already spent a considerable chunk of my late teens being utterly terrified of flying.
I really, really hope the Liberal Party chooses a strong leader and wins the next election. Canada might be fucked if they don't.
This just sucks, idk.
Still gonna watch the game, though. GO CANADA!!!!!!
ETA: I'm also cranky because my beloved space is currently subject to fearmongering for clicks and that sweet ad revenue. And, like, it's clear no one gives a shit about the science; they just want to be nihilistic and edgy and doomsaying. The whole YEAH, HIT US mentality is so unpleasant to me. To be clear: the Torino scale currently puts 2024 YR4 at a 2 (out of 10), and that scale has never gone above a 4 in recorded history. New telescopic observations, when we can get an idea of the asteroid's trajectory, will very likely lead to a reassignment of 0 on the scale, which is the same as 0% likelihood of striking Earth.
