[community profile] thefridayfive bc work is dragging

1. Do you want to get married?

I love weddings! So obviously, I'd love to have my own wedding someday. Marriage, I think is a bit silly... but I don't know if I'd be terribly opposed to it with the right person. But being ace and having largely given up on dating due to the unfortunate ace dating pool, I can't imagine it'll happen; and I'm okay with that.

2. Where would you like to get married?

In no particular order:
◓ Taco Bell.
◒ The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.
◓ Las Vegas.
◒ Glasgow, Scotland.
◓ On a beach somewhere.
◒ In an aquarium.
◓ Lastly, in a cemetery with a rich history and particularly spooky vibes.

3. If you were getting married in a week, who would be in your wedding party?

My office mate's two chihuahuas, Sophia and Ava, would be my bridesmaids.

Uhhh this is a difficult question! High school BFF, obviously; and my D&D crew. But this is such a personal thing and really requires effort and consent of the people participating, so I wouldn't want to randomly choose without asking if they were okay with it. (Anyone reading this who wants to be in my fictional wedding party is welcome, obvs.)

4. What would your wedding colours be?

The middle palette, of course. Or I'd go full Hallowe'en Groupie - black, white, orange, and blood red.

5. Does marriage mean to you 'til death do us part?'

No. I think marriage means, 'we are good for a time, hopefully we can make it last - but if we can't, then that's a decision we will make together'. The idea of being trapped in this legal and financial quicksand of forever is pretty terrifying! And I don't think a marriage that only lasts five years is any less meaningful than a marriage that lasts fifty.

i assume you know this already, but if not: you can combine the taco bell + las vegas option at the Taco Bell Cantina by Planet Hollywood on the Vegas Strip! they even have a specific in-store wedding chapel for the purpose :D and margarita slushie machines :DDDD (i once walked like two miles in august heat just to get a meal at this specific taco bell and it was SO WORTH IT lmao)

I agree with you on 'til death do us part' being terrifying - and I'm married! I've only been married for 4 years, and I don't know how long it will last but I know it'll be worth it. If it's the rest of our lives, then great. If it's next year, then it's been great. If it's 10, 20, whatever number of years, we will (hopefully)have had a great marriage.

My logic is people are always changing. I'm not the same person I was 4 years, and neither is my wife. So far, our personal development has taken us in similar ways and what we're looking for is the same thing.
But the person I was 10 years ago, wanted completely different things from life, needed a different person - and there's no guarantee that the person I (or Sophie) become over the next 10 years will need/want what we do now
(I hope this makes sense?)
